The Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce (CACC) is an organization dedicated to protecting and promoting the local business community. A chamber is composed of business representatives who meet to organize events, fundraisers, workshops, and other activities aimed at helping businesses grow.  As a member, you do not need to participate in every event, but the more you participate, the more you will benefit from your chamber membership.

Here are the top reasons to be an actively involved member of your local Chamber:

Networking Opportunities – Finding valuable networking opportunities can be difficult for business owners. Chamber events and meetings offer new opportunities to increase your professional networking connections with people who will want to do business with you. These new connections introduce you to others. The relationships you can build through a Chamber help people know, like and trust you – which leads them to want to do business with you. Opportunities offered through CACC are the Annual Dinner, Egg’s n’ Issues, 30-Minute Breakfast Briefings, serving on the Board of Directors, serving on an event committee and other meaningful committees. You will find like-minded, business-focused individuals who share many of your interests and concerns.

Ribbon Cuttings – Ribbon cuttings are one of the best ways to bring community awareness to your organization and to help you celebrate being a part of the community. A ribbon cutting formally introduces you, your company, employees, products, and services to the public, Chamber ambassadors, and even elected officials who are present at the event. You don’t need to be a new business to have a ribbon cutting. Many Chambers are happy to celebrate a new service or expansion of your business.

Community Connections and Personal Relationships – Participating in your local chamber allows you to become more visible in community projects and events. Sponsoring and/or serving on the planning committee of an event, with your logo made visible on venue and on all media coverage of the event, brings exposure to your business. Customers will support businesses they see are active in strengthening the community.

Promotion and Visibility – Chambers offer many ways to promote their affiliates. CACC offers the Monday with the Chamber program, the Chamber visits your site, takes photos, and listens to your story. We then disseminate your story to all social and local media outlets. Your business listing is on our website including a hyperlink, if you so choose, as a valued member of your local Chamber. Your business is listed in our printed directory, with a 1200 copy distribution, promotes your company and elevates your visibility through a chamber, ads can also be purchased for extra visibility. There is an extra home-page ad option on our site for $30 per month, which is an inexpensive way to promote your brand. CACC Presents on WAGM, which includes 40 TV advertising spots, and the Chamber defrays the cost by $60 and endorses your business. Members may choose to have their directory listing enhanced on our website; this includes all needed business information with photos. In response to inquiries from local community members or families wanting to relocate to Aroostook County, your business (es) will be prioritized and referred first as a member. Members may display promotional materials in our Kiosk. CACC offers advertising opportunities on our Facebook page and email blasts to all members of special offers and events. There is also the opportunity to be featured in CACC’s Saturday Spotlight, which is a social media program that focuses on a business every Saturday.

Making a Difference and Partnering with Like-Minded People – Chambers of Commerce in partnership with the Maine State Chamber are affiliated with their cities’ government agencies and act as a voice for their members. Be part of the solution. Help move individuals and organizations toward future progress. Share the load. Work together. Build your business. Help the community flourish.

Becoming a Committee Member – When you are an active member of a chamber, you create the opportunity to join or lead event, policy, or ad-hoc committees. Doing this provides more decision-making power within your chamber and allows you to assist in shaping its future as an organization. This type of leadership builds your resume, as well as your name in the community.

Tapping into these other great benefits: Through the Chamber you have access to a meeting room with zoom capabilities, with coffee and water included during our meeting with a seating capacity of 20 people. (Capacity is 8 during Covid 19). Members receive 25% off Constant Contact, a bulk email service, to reach your customer base. Employees can celebrate 10-12% off higher education opportunities through local colleges. A 401k plan is available to all member entities employing one employee or more. Members can make use of the Chamber Check program; and save money by using our bulk mailing permit. If your entity is writing a grant, the Chamber can write a letter of support to strengthen your grant application. We also have a tri-fold machine for your convenience.

Growing your business – In the end, joining a chamber allows you to grow your business beyond traditional parameters of sales or marketing by easily finding all these opportunities in one place. Meeting new people, becoming involved in local issues, and expanding your knowledge and outreach are invaluable to the growth and success of your business.

As you can see, CACC has many opportunities to help your business grow. It takes both our efforts and yours as a team to get what you need out of the chamber. We are here for you and happy to help.
